Google has announced that Great Britain will invest £ 5 in the next two years to satisfy the growing demand for AI services to increase the government.
The announcement in which Google opens the new data center in Waltham Cross in Hertfordshire is expected to contribute to the creation of thousands of jobs, said the US tech giant.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves said the most important investments in research and development, investment expenditure and technology are a “vote of trust” in the British economy.
It also follows reports that the Chatgpt parent company Openai and Nvidia will also present billions of dollars in the British data centers in Great Britain this week under the state visit of President Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, Google, 5 billion pounds will pump in the investment expenditure, research and development as well as associated engineering, including the “pioneering” AI research in science and health care by Google Deepmind operation.
The company in Silicon Valley said that the investment would help Britain to expand its AI economy and to contribute to technological breakthroughs, improvements in cyber security and the creation of jobs.
Google predicted that the investment will contribute to creating 8,250 jobs at British companies annually.
Ms. Reeves will officially open the company’s first British data center in Waltham Cross on Tuesday, which opens the growing demand for Google Cloud, Workspace, Search and Maps services from Google.
The Chancellor said: “The investment of Google £ 5 billion is a strong vote of trust in the British economy and the strength of our partnership with the USA and will create work and economic growth in the coming years.
“This government reverses decades of sub -investment, which has held back for too long by reducing stressful bureaucracy, providing bold reforms of the planning system and investing in better technology to unlock better jobs and opportunities.”
The co -founder and managing director of Google Deepmind, Demis Hassabis, said: “We founded Deepmind in London because we knew that the United Kingdom had the potential and talent to be a global hub for pioneering work.
“Great Britain has a rich history in which they are at the top of the technology – from Lovelace to Babbage to Turing – it is suitable for continuing this inheritance by investing in the next wave of innovation and scientific discoveries in Great Britain.”
